Refraction and the Ray Model of Light
Refraction and Lenses Gallery
The Refraction and Lenses Gallery features photos of various refraction phenomenon including the appearance of objects submerged in water, the appearance of images viewed through lenses and water filled goblets, the refraction of laser light, human and insect eyes, and much more. This gallery provides a brief overview of most of the concepts discussed in the Refraction and the Ray Model of Light chapter of The Physics Classroom Tutorial.
Rainbows Gallery
The Rainbows Gallery combines photos of rainbows, popular quotes of famous people and physics principles to describe and explain the phenomenon of rainbow formation. This gallery coordinates with Lesson 4 of the Refraction and the Ray Model of Light chapter of The Physics Classroom Tutorial.
Dew Drop Refraction Gallery
The Dew Drop Refraction Gallery features breathtaking photos of images formed by the refraction of light passing through dewdrops. This gallery coordinates with Lessons 1 and 5 of the Refraction and the Ray Model of Light chapter of The Physics Classroom Tutorial.

Lesson 1: Refraction at a Boundary
Lesson 1 introduces the concept of refraction, elaborating of the cause and the variables that affect the amount of refraction. The concepts of optical density and the index of refraction are discussed. Items in the group's pool include photos depicting the refraction of light by various media and photos of animals (archer fish, kingfishers, etc) that have learned to compensate for refraction. Photos complement many of the discussions from Lesson 1 of the Refraction and the Ray Model of Light chapter of The Physics Classroom Tutorial.
