The color appearance of an object depends upon the colors (wavelengths) of light that are reflected by the object to the observer's eyes. Objects can interact with the incident light to absorb one or more primary colors of light. This is called color subtraction. The colors that are not absorbed or subtracted from the incident light are reflected to the observer's eyes.

Version 1:
A room is darkened. Two colored spotlights - one RED and one GREEN - shine on a sheet of paper. A person viewing the paper observes its color appearance to be GREEN. What color or colors of light are being absorbed by the paper?
