Definition of a Scalar:
A scalar is a quantity which is fully described by magnitude alone.
 
Definition of a Vector:
A vector is a quantity which is fully described by both a magnitude and a direction.

 Think About It

There are three quantities in kinematics which are vector quantities and two quantities which are scalar quantities. The three vector quantities are displacement, velocity and acceleration. The two scalar quantities are distance and speed.
