Momentum and Collisions Review

Description: The Momentum and Collisions Review includes 72 questions of varying type. Questions pertain to the application of the momentum change-impulse theorem and the momentum conservation principle to the analysis of collisions and explosions. Some problems involve combining a momentum analysis with kinematic equations or work-energy theorem. Some elastic collisions problems presume a prior knowledge of kinetic energy. Some problems involving two-dimensional collisions require a vector analysis. The following concepts are emphasized: momentum, impulse, momentum change-impulse theorem, action-reaction, momentum conservation, momentum transfer, two-dimensional collisions, momentum vectors, inelastic collisions, elastic collisions, glancing collisions, Pythagorean theorem, and SOHCAHTOA.

The Review is available in three versions:

  1. Printable Version
The printable version includes only the questions. There are no answers and no links to online help. It's perfect for printing and using as a practice test.

  2. Questions with Links
This version includes questions with links to online help that is pertinent to each question.

  3. Finally, you can use the Answers Version of the Review. This inludes questions, answers, explanations/solutions, and links to online help that is pertinent to each question. This version is available with all the questions on one page or with a portion of the questions on one page.

  2. Minds On Physics the App Series

Minds On Physics the App ("MOP the App") is a series of interactive questioning modules for the student that is serious about improving their conceptual understanding of physics. Each module of the series covers a different topic and is further broken down into sub-topics. A "MOP experience" will provide a learner with challenging questions, feedback, and question-specific help in the context of a game-like environment. It is available for phones, tablets, Chromebooks, and Macintosh computers. It's a perfect resource for those wishing to refine their conceptual reasoning abilities. Part 3 of the series includes topics in Momentum and Collisions.
