Static Electricity

A Concept-Builder is an interactive questioning module that presents learners with carefully crafted questions that target various aspects of a concept. Each Concept Builder focuses the learner's attention upon a discrete learning outcome. Questions target that outcome from a variety of angles using multiple difficulty levels or varying activities. Learners ponder the given information and answer questions in the hopes of earning Stars and Medals. These Stars (for answering questions) and Medals (for completing levels or activities) are displayed on the screen, allowing a teacher to track student progress. The following Concept Builders target concepts in Static Electricity.

Charge and Charging
Learning Goal: To use an understanding of the subatomic particle composition of charged and neutral objects in order to identify how an object becomes charged in the manner that it does.

Charge Interactions
Learning Goal: To use stated information about how four or more charged objects interact with each other in order to determine the type of charge on the objects.

Learning Goal: To understand that polarization involves a separation of charge and to explain which way electrons move and how charge distributes itself during a polarization process.

Coulombs Law
Learning Goal: To use Coulomb's law of electric force to predict the effect of varying charge and varying separation distance upon the electrostatic force between two objects.

Electric Field Intensity
Learning Goal: To use the electric field equations to predict the effect that variations in Q, q, and d would have upon electric field intensity.
