Physics Classroom is making strides to make our site accessible to everyone. Our site contains 6 navigation areas. The Primary, Secondary, and Page Level navigations have a screen reader version of their nav structure that allows using the left and right keys to navigate sibling navigation items, and up or down keys to navigate parent or child navigation items. The others can be navigated using tabs. The Primary Navigation handles the first 2 levels of site pages. The Secondary (which is not always available) handles the 3rd and 4th level of structure. The Page level navigation allows you to navigate the current page's headings quickly. The Header Navigation contains the Light/Dark Mode toggle, Search, Notifications and account login. The Breadcrumb Navigation contains the breadcrumb of the current page. If the current page has a breadcrumb, you can get to it by skipping to the content and tabbing in reverse (shift plus tab). The Footer Navigation contains links such as Privacy, Contact, about and terms. Some resources contain an Audio Player that can be activated by holding down the T key for 3 seconds, and then using K to pause and resume. While not every area of Physics Classroom is usable purely from keyboard and screen reader, we are committed to continue work on making this possible. Concept Builders - Rotation and Balance

A Concept Builder is an interactive questioning module that presents learners with carefully crafted questions that target various aspects of a concept. Each Concept Builder focuses the learner's attention upon a discrete learning outcome. Questions target that outcome from a variety of angles using multiple difficulty levels or varying activities. The following Concept Builders target concepts associated with Rotation and Balance.

Activities

Angular Acceleration

🞋︎ Learning Goal: To identify whether an object experiences angular acceleration or not, to determine the sign of the angular acceleration, and to determine the angular acceleration value if given simple numerical data.

Angular Position and Displacement

🞋︎ Learning Goal: To express the angular position of an object using both degrees and radians and to determine the angular displacement of an object in radians.

Linear and Angular Velocity

🞋︎ Learning Goal: To compare the linear and/or the angular velocity of two rotating objects under varying conditions.

Balanced vs. Unbalanced Torques

🞋︎ Learning Goal: To analyze the torques experienced by an object in order to determine if the object is experiencing an angular acceleration.

Getting a Handle on Torque

🞋︎ Learning Goal: To use an understanding of torque to predict which direction a meter stick would rotate when various masses are placed at varying distances from the fulcrum.

Rotational Inertia

🞋︎ Learning Goal: To use an understanding of the variables that affect the rotational inertia of an object in order to compare the rotational inertia of two different objects or systems of objects.

Torque

🞋︎ Learning Goal: To identify the variables that affect the amount of torque, the direction of rotation caused by a torque, and the sign on torque.

🞋︎ Learning Goal: To use an understanding of torque to predict which direction a meter stick would rotate when three masses are placed at varying distances from the fulcrum.
