Torque - Directions
Using the Torque Concept Builder is quite simple to use. There are three different activities, each with a slightly different emphasis. In each activity you will be presented with a question that you will have to answer.
In the first activity - Ranking Tasks - you will need to rank three situations according to their torque. There is a Tap to Rank button below each diagram that can be used to rank that situation. Tap the button to toggle through the three possible ranks - Smallest Torque, Middlest Torque, and Greatest Torque. Once you have three unique rankings for the three situations, a Check Answer button appears. If you are satisfied with your rankings, tap on the Check Answer button. Your answer will be evaluated and your Progress Report will be updated (for Task Tracker users).
In the second activity - Torque and Rotation - you must identify the direction of rotation of a seesaw that would be caused by a given force and the sign (+/-) on the associated torque. There are five options to choose from. Tap on the radio button next to the option or on the text itself to select that option as the answer. As long as an option is selected, a Check Answer button appears. If you are satisfied with your answer, tap on the Check Answer button. Your answer will be evaluated and your Progress Report will be updated (for Task Tracker users).
In the third activity - Lever Arm - you are given a diagram of a door, the door hinge, and the door handle. A force vector is shown applied to the door handle. You must determine the lever arm for that particular situation. There are five options represented by a blue arrow and labeled A, B, C, D, and E. You must select one of the optons by tapping on the corresponding button at the bottom of the Concept Builder. As long as a letter is selected, a Check Answer button appears. If you are satisfied with your answer, tap on the Check Answer button. Your answer will be evaluated and your Progress Report will be updated (for Task Tracker users).
Your goal is to answer questions, earn "Stars" (Task Tracker users), and to complete one or more activities. Stars are earned when you show success on a particular question. Once you show success on all the questions for a particular activity, you will earn the Trophy for that activity.
