Waves - Case Studies

The Waves - Case Studies Concept Builder focuses on an understanding of how a wave pattern is affected by changes in the properties of a wave (such as frequency and speed) and by the properties of a medium (such as tension and linear density of a string). There are 36 total questions organized into 12 different Question Groups and spread across three different activities. In Activity 1 - Wavelength and Amplitude - learners are presented with a wave pattern and asked to identify a wave pattern that has two times or one-half the wavelength or amplitude. In Activity 2 - Frequency, Speed, and Wavelength - learners are presented with one wave pattern and asked to identify a second wave pattern resulting from two times or one-half the speed or frequency. In Activity 3 - Speed, Tension, and Density - learners are presented with one wave pattern and asked to identify a second wave pattern that results from four times or one-fourth the tension or density. Use of this Concept Builder with our Task Tracker system allows teachers to track student progress.
