Physics Classroom is making strides to make our site accessible to everyone. Our site contains 6 navigation areas. The Primary, Secondary, and Page Level navigations have a screen reader version of their nav structure that allows using the left and right keys to navigate sibling navigation items, and up or down keys to navigate parent or child navigation items. The others can be navigated using tabs. The Primary Navigation handles the first 2 levels of site pages. The Secondary (which is not always available) handles the 3rd and 4th level of structure. The Page level navigation allows you to navigate the current page's headings quickly. The Header Navigation contains the Light/Dark Mode toggle, Search, Notifications and account login. The Breadcrumb Navigation contains the breadcrumb of the current page. If the current page has a breadcrumb, you can get to it by skipping to the content and tabbing in reverse (shift plus tab). The Footer Navigation contains links such as Privacy, Contact, about and terms. Some resources contain an Audio Player that can be activated by holding down the T key for 3 seconds, and then using K to pause and resume. While not every area of Physics Classroom is usable purely from keyboard and screen reader, we are committed to continue work on making this possible. If you have questions or need additional help, please use this link to contact us.

Online Textbook (Tutorial)

The Physics Classroom was created to support effective science instruction through clear, engaging lessons developed by experienced educators. Each course integrates visuals, animations, simulations, audio, and video to promote deep conceptual understanding.  These lessons are written for high school students at a high school reading level.  They are meant to be phun, easy to understand, and interactive.

Originally focused on physics, our library now includes chemistry courses built with the same classroom-tested approach. We continue to expand our resources to help teachers bring science to life and inspire every learner.

Task Tracker (Premium)

All of our online resources are freely available for teachers and students to use in the classroom. For those looking to take instruction a step further, our Task Tracker premium service provides powerful tools for managing student learning.

With Task Tracker teachers, homeschool parents or tutors can create classes, assign and modify activities, monitor student progress and automatically score—all within a secure, easy-to-use platform designed to make our resources even more effective.

Ad Free (Premium)

The Physics Classroom is committed to providing schools and students with high-quality, affordable learning tools. Most of our resources are freely available, supported by student-safe advertising.

For classrooms seeking an ad-free experience, we offer two subscription options that remove ads entirely.

Concept Builders

A Concept Builder is an interactive learning activity designed to foster students' understanding of a specific concept through guided practice and feedback. Each activity presents carefully structured questions that address multiple aspects and levels of the concept, with progress tracked throughout.

Students receive immediate feedback and targeted help when they struggle, including brief explanations and reminders of key principles. By combining purposeful questioning, adaptive support, and opportunities for mastery, Concept Builders promote meaningful learning and conceptual growth.

We invite you to explore a few Concept Builders and experience how they can enhance conceptual understanding in your classroom.

Minds On

Minds On is a comprehensive collection of over 1,300 carefully crafted questions designed to deepen students' understanding of key physics concepts. Each activity focuses on one or two specific learning outcomes.

Through structured practice and reflection, Minds On challenges students to think critically, confront misconceptions, and build a stronger conceptual foundation in physics - and soon Chemistry!

Science Reasoning

The Science Reasoning Center offers a collection of interactive experiences designed to cultivate and assess students' scientific reasoning skills. Each activity presents information that students must evaluate, interpret, and synthesize as they respond to questions and complete tasks—encouraging deeper thinking and evidence-based reasoning.

Interactives

As more high schools embrace 1-to-1 learning by equipping every student with an iPad, Chromebook, or similar device, physics teachers face a familiar challenge: many of the trusted interactive simulations once powered by Java, Flash, and Shockwave no longer work on these modern, mobile-friendly platforms. Interactives were created to bridge this gap with a growing collection of engaging, HTML5-based activities designed specifically for today's devices—whether tablets, Chromebooks, laptops, or even smartphones. Fully free of outdated plug-ins, these rich simulations deliver the same hands-on discovery that makes physics come alive, ensuring every student in your classroom can explore concepts interactively, no matter what device they hold. Begun in 2014 we now have over 140 interactives and more are added yearly. Interactives is our ongoing commitment to supporting teachers and inspiring learners in every 1-to-1 environment.

Calc Pad

CalcPad is an automated problem delivery and grading system featuring more than 2,500 questions within over 600 problem sets with dynamically generated values. Students can submit answers directly, receive immediate feedback, and make multiple attempts to refine their understanding.

Each problem is supported by helpful learning resources—such as audio-guided solutions, instructional web pages, and video tutorials—providing students with the guidance they need to grasp underlying concepts and problem-solving strategies.

The Laboratory

The Laboratory provides a comprehensive collection of ready-to-use lab investigations designed to support hands-on learning in physics. Each lab includes a Lab Description outlining the guiding question, purpose, and expectations for student lab notebooks—ideal for distribution as handouts or classroom displays.

Every lab also comes with a Scoring Rubric for assessment and a detailed Teacher's Guide that lists materials, outlines procedures, suggests alternatives, notes safety considerations, and highlights connections to The Physics Classroom Tutorial and Minds On modules.

Teacher's Guides are available as PDFs and editable Word documents, allowing educators to adapt materials to fit their classroom needs. Whether for new teachers, cross-discipline educators, or seasoned instructors, these resources offer an efficient way to build cohesive, effective lab experiences aligned with curriculum goals.
