3D Electric Field Mapping
Our 3D Field Mapping Simulation allows one to view the electric field characteristics around a source charge or (better) a configuration of source charges. It also shows the connection between the electric field characteristics and the resulting electric potential map surrounding the source charges. The simulation allows one to view an accompanying three-dimensional electric potential map. Drag some source charges - positive or negative - 3D Field Mapping will draw the electric field lines for you. Then tap the Go to 3D View and see the electric potential map. Return to 2D and start again. (Warning: It's going to be difficulty to not say Groovy.)
Users are encouraged to open the Interactive and explore. For a more guided experience, The Physics Classroom has prepared an activity for use with this Interactive and encourages teachers to use it with their classes.
