Concept Builders - Light Waves and Color
A Concept-Builder is an interactive questioning module that presents learners with carefully crafted questions that target various aspects of a concept. Each Concept Builder focuses the learner's attention upon a discrete learning outcome. Questions target that outcome from a variety of angles using multiple difficulty levels or varying activities. The following Concept Builders target concepts in a unit about Light and Color.
Activities
Color Addition and Subtraction
🞋︎ Learning Goal: To use the rules of color addition and subtraction to predict the color appearance of objects, to predict the light color an object absorbs, and to describe situations using color equations.
🞋︎ Learning Goal: To use an understanding of color subtraction and color filters to predict the color that is transmitted by a filter and the appearance of objects viewed through a filter.
🞋︎ Learning Goal: To use an understanding of color subtraction and pigments to relate the color appearance of an object to the incident light color and the pigment the object contains.
If This, Then That: Color Subtraction
🞋︎ Learning Goal: To use the principle of color subtraction to predict the color of a shirt if given how the shirt appears when viewed under two other colors of light.
🞋︎ Learning Goal: To use the power-distance-illuminance relationship to predict the illuminance on a surface a given distance away.
🞋︎ Learning Goal: To understand the ordering of the frequency, wavelength, and energy for the various regions in the continuous spectrum for electromagnetic waves and visible light waves.
