Physics Classroom is making strides to make our site accessible to everyone. Our site contains 6 navigation areas. The Primary, Secondary, and Page Level navigations have a screen reader version of their nav structure that allows using the left and right keys to navigate sibling navigation items, and up or down keys to navigate parent or child navigation items. The others can be navigated using tabs. The Primary Navigation handles the first 2 levels of site pages. The Secondary (which is not always available) handles the 3rd and 4th level of structure. The Page level navigation allows you to navigate the current page's headings quickly. The Header Navigation contains the Light/Dark Mode toggle, Search, Notifications and account login. The Breadcrumb Navigation contains the breadcrumb of the current page. If the current page has a breadcrumb, you can get to it by skipping to the content and tabbing in reverse (shift plus tab). The Footer Navigation contains links such as Privacy, Contact, about and terms. Some resources contain an Audio Player that can be activated by holding down the T key for 3 seconds, and then using K to pause and resume. While not every area of Physics Classroom is usable purely from keyboard and screen reader, we are committed to continue work on making this possible. If you have questions or need additional help, please use this link to contact us.

Color Addition and Subtraction - Directions

Using the Color Addition and Subtraction Concept Builder is quite simple. The Concept Builder consists of 40 questions organized into 15 Question Groups and spread across three diffierent activities. Each activity involves a different type of task to complete.

In the first activity - titled Hit the Spotlights - you must determine the result of mixing two primary colors of light. A diagram is given of the two spotlights shining on a white screen. The overlap of the lights on the screen is blank. You must tap on the overlap area to toggle through the nine possible choices for the overlap color. Once you think you have determined the proper overlap color, tap on the Check Answer button. Your answer will be evaluated and your Progress Report will be updated.

The second activity is titled Taking Away. Your are told the primary colors of light that are approaching a white sheet of paper. And you are told the color that the paper appears when viewed by an observer. You must decide which primary color(s), if any, are absorbed by the paper in order for it to look that indicated color. There are three buttons - one for each of the primary colors of light - that you can tap in order to answer the question. You can pick more than one color of light if necessary. If you decide that no colors of light are absorbed by the paper, then you can tap on the None button. Once you are satisfied with your answer, tap on the Check Answer button. Your answer will be evaluated and your Progress Report will be updated.

The third activity is titled Do the Math. You are told the primary colors of light that are approaching a white sheet of paper. And you are told the color that the paper appears when viewed by an observer. You must create the Color Equation that describes the situation. The color equation indicates the primary colors of light that are approaching the paper, the primary colors of light (if any) that are absorbed by the paper, and the primary colors of light that are reflected from the paper. You can tap on the button below each field to choose your answers. Tapping once adds that color to the field; tapping a second time removes the color. If you think that no colors should be listed for the field, then tap on the None button. Once you have an answer for each of the three fields, a Check Answer button is displayed. When you are satisfied with your answers, tap on the Check Answer button. Your answers will be evaluated and your Progress Report will be updated.

Your goal is to earn "Stars" and to complete one or more activities. Stars are earned when you show success on a particular question. Once you show success on all the questions for a particular activity, you will earn the trophy for that activity.
