Speed Distance-Time - Directions

How it Works:

Using the Matching Pairs: Speed Distance-Time Concept Builder is quite simple. There are three different difficulty levels. Each level requires the same task to complete - match eight different phrases or numerical items into four different corresponding pairs. The eight numerical items display on a 3x3 grid. One of the squares on he grid is left open for purposes of displaying directions. The other 8 sqaures on the grid must be matched into four pairs. A match is made by selecting two of the squares and then tapping on the Check Match button. A square is selected by simply tapping on it; the square is outlined in red once it is selected. If you change your mind, tap it a second time to deselect it. Whenever two squares are selected, the Check Match button is displayed in the right-side column of the Concept Builder. When you are satisfied with your two selections, tap on the Check Match button. Your answers will be evalutated. If correct, the two squares are color-coded with the same color and can no longer be selected for the remainder of the Matching Pairs game. If your match is incorrect, you will unfortunately have to start the game over. But don't fear, it will be the same eight numerical items being displayed at a different location on the grid. Once you have made four successful matches, you will be rewarded the Trophy for that difficulty level.

Getting Help

You will notice that there is a Help Me button underneath the Progress Report. You should learn to use this feature of the program. It's how you can turn an exercise in answering questions into an exercise in learning. Tapping on the Help Me button will open a page with help that is specific to each question. Of course, the Help pages are only helpful if you read them. So take the time to read them. Each Help page contains four sections: a discussion of the Fundamentals, a display of the various Questions in the Question Group, a section titled "How to Think About This Situation", and a set of links to resources in our Tutorial section. You should pay attention to the sectoin titled How to Think About This Situation. You will find what you need to know in the two or three paragraphs in this section. You will also become a better Physics student for doing that. That is, after all, the goal of such an activity as Matching Pairs.

Thanks for being patient with the Directions. Happy learning!
