Physics Classroom is making strides to make our site accessible to everyone. Our site contains 6 navigation areas. The Primary, Secondary, and Page Level navigations have a screen reader version of their nav structure that allows using the left and right keys to navigate sibling navigation items, and up or down keys to navigate parent or child navigation items. The others can be navigated using tabs. The Primary Navigation handles the first 2 levels of site pages. The Secondary (which is not always available) handles the 3rd and 4th level of structure. The Page level navigation allows you to navigate the current page's headings quickly. The Header Navigation contains the Light/Dark Mode toggle, Search, Notifications and account login. The Breadcrumb Navigation contains the breadcrumb of the current page. If the current page has a breadcrumb, you can get to it by skipping to the content and tabbing in reverse (shift plus tab). The Footer Navigation contains links such as Privacy, Contact, about and terms. Some resources contain an Audio Player that can be activated by holding down the T key for 3 seconds, and then using K to pause and resume. While not every area of Physics Classroom is usable purely from keyboard and screen reader, we are committed to continue work on making this possible. If you have questions or need additional help, please use this link to contact us.

Chemical Reaction Types - Directions

Using the Chemical Reaction Types Concept Builder is quite simple. There are three activities and they each work a little differently. In the first activity, Reaction Type Fundamentals, all questions are multiple choice questions with four or five options. You select an answer by tapping on one of the options or upon the radio button next to the option description. When you do, the radio button will show a red center (for being selected) and the text for that option will be red. A Check Answer button will also appear. If you are satisfied with your answer, then tap on the button or change your answer by tapping on a different answer option. When you are confident of your selected answer, then tap on the Check Answre button. Your answer will be evaluated and your Progress Report will be updated.

In the second activity, Name That Type, you will be presented with three balanced chemical equations for Reaction #1, #2, and #3. You have to identify the type of reaction represented by each equation. You do so by tapping on the field underneath the equations. Tapping on a field toggles through the five different reaction types.Once you find your desired answer, then quit tapping on the field. If you come to the last choice of five, then tapping again cycles through the five options again beginning with the first option. When you have selected the Reaction Type for all three reactions, a Check Answer button appears. If you are satisfied with your set of three answers, then tap on the Check Answre button. Your answers will be evaluated and your Progress Report will be updated.

The third activity, Matching Game, is a little more difficult than the second activity. You are given five different balanced chemical equations and you have to identify the reaction type for all five. You make the identification by dragging and dropping an icon on top of each of the equations. Once you do, it snaps into place. If you are dissatisfied with your choice, then tap on the icon (or equation) and it is removed or drag a different icon onto the chemical equation. Once you have categorized all five of the reactions, a Check Answer button appears. If you are satisfied with your answers, then tap on the button. Your answers will be evaluated and your Progress Report will be updated.

Your goal is to earn "Stars" and to complete one or more activities. Stars are earned when you show success on a particular question. If you miss a question then you will have to answer two similar questions correctly before earning a star. Once you show success on all the questions for a particular activity, you will earn the trophy for that activity.
