Pressure Concepts - Directions
Using the Pressure Concepts Concept Builder is quite simple. There are three activities in all. They each work a little differently. In the first activity - A Versus B - there are six different Question Groups. In two of the Question Groups, you will have to answer a six-option Multiple Choice question. You select your answer by tapping on the words or on the radio button next to the words. Tapping selects the answer; the radio button displays a red center, the text of the answer option turns red, and a Check Answer button appears. If you change your mind, then you can tap on the same option again to deselect it or tap on a different answer option. Once you are satisfied with your choice of answers, tap on the Check Answer button. Your answer will be evaluated and your Progress Report will be updated. The other four Question Groups in Activity 1 are three option multiple choice questions. You select an option by tapping on one of the three fields below the graphic. Tapping will select the tapped-on option and display the Check Answer button. When you are satisfied with your answer, tap on this button and your choice will be evaluated and your Progress Report will be updated.
In the second activity - Pressure Rankings - you are given three different pressure values expressed in different units. You will have to determine which is the greatest, smallest, and middlest pressure. You select your answers by tapping on the fields below the graphic. You can toggle through the three options for each field - A B, or C - by continued tapping on the field. Once you have three unique answers in the ranking fields, a Check Answer button appears. If you are satisfied with your answer choices, then tap on the Check Answer button. Your answers will be evaluated and your Progress Report will be updated.
In the third activity - Manometers - an open-end mercury manometer is displayed. The atmospheric pressure and the height difference for the mercury levels on opposite sides of the U-tube are indicated in the paragraph of text. You have to use these two bits of information to determine the pressure of the gas sample. You can enter your answer by typing it directly into the answer field. A pop-up number pad is available for mobile phone users. Simply tap on the calculator icon to pop-up the built-in number pad. Once you are satisfied with your answer, tap on the Check Answer button. Your answers will be evaluated and your Progress Report will be updated. If you need to change an answer, then tap on a different choice or deselect the current choice by tapping on it.
Your goal is to earn "Stars" and to complete one or more activities. Stars are earned when you show success on a particular question. Once you show success on all the questions for a particular activity, you will earn the trophy for that activity.
