Significant Digits and Measurement
The Significant Digits and Measurement Concept Builder challenges learners to combine an understanding of significant digits with the proper method of reporting a measured or a calculated value. There are three different activities. In the first activity - What's Significant? - learners inspect a numerical value and make a decision regarding the number of significant digits present in the numerical value. In the second activity - Mesurement - learners are provided a diagram of a measurement apparatus and must use it to identify a properly-reported measured value. In the third activity - Math Operations - learners must use measured values to calculate a quantity and identify the proper expression of that calculated value in terms of significant digits. There are a total of 45 questions in this Concept Builder. They are organized into 15 different Question Groups and spread across the three activities. Question-specific help is provided for each of the 15 Question Groups. The built-in score-keeping makes this Concept Builder a perfect candidate for a classroom activity.
Users are encouraged to open the Concept Builder and begin. There is no need for an activity sheet for this Concept Builder.
