Physics Classroom is making strides to make our site accessible to everyone. Our site contains 6 navigation areas. The Primary, Secondary, and Page Level navigations have a screen reader version of their nav structure that allows using the left and right keys to navigate sibling navigation items, and up or down keys to navigate parent or child navigation items. The others can be navigated using tabs. The Primary Navigation handles the first 2 levels of site pages. The Secondary (which is not always available) handles the 3rd and 4th level of structure. The Page level navigation allows you to navigate the current page's headings quickly. The Header Navigation contains the Light/Dark Mode toggle, Search, Notifications and account login. The Breadcrumb Navigation contains the breadcrumb of the current page. If the current page has a breadcrumb, you can get to it by skipping to the content and tabbing in reverse (shift plus tab). The Footer Navigation contains links such as Privacy, Contact, about and terms. Some resources contain an Audio Player that can be activated by holding down the T key for 3 seconds, and then using K to pause and resume. While not every area of Physics Classroom is usable purely from keyboard and screen reader, we are committed to continue work on making this possible. If you have questions or need additional help, please use this link to contact us.

Entropy - Directions

Using the Entropy Concept Builder is quite simple. There are three activities in all. Tasks vary per activity. In the first activity - Two Truths and a Lie - you will be presented with three statements. Two of them are true and one is false. You must identify the false statement. You can select the false statement by tapping on it. Once tapped, it will be enclosed in a rectangle to indicate that it is selected and a Check Answer button will be visible. You can deselect the statement by tapping on it a second time or you can tap on another statement to select it instead. When you are satisfied with your answes, tap on the Check Answer button. Your answer will be evaluated and your Progress Report will be updated (if you are a Task Tracker user).

In the second activity - Case Studies - you will be presented with representation of two contrasting situations. The representation is a picture or diagram with minimal words. You must think about what factors affect entropy and use that understanding to identify the case that has the greatest entropy. You can tap on the Case A or Case B buttons to identify your selection. The button you tapped on is highlighted with a yellow outline. You can tap a second time to deselect that answer option or simply tap on the other button to select that case instead. As long as you have selected either Case A or Case B, a Check Answer button will be visible. If you are satisfied with your answes, tap on the Check Answer button. Your answer will be evaluated and your Progress Report will be updated (if you are a Task Tracker user).

In the third activity - Entropy Change - you are presented with a representation of a change or process. The representation is a picture or diagram with minimal words. You must think about what factors would lead to an increase or decrease in entropy and use that understanding to identify whether the diagram represents a positive entropy change (increasing entropy) or a negative entropy change (decreasing entropy). You identify your choice by tapping on the Positive ∆S (increasing entropy) or Negative ∆S (decreasing entropy) button. The button you tapped on is highlighted with a yellow outline. You can tap a second time to deselect that answer option or simply tap on the other button to select that answer instead. As long as you have selected either Positive ∆S or Negative ∆S, a Check Answer button will be visible. If you are satisfied with your answes, tap on the Check Answer button. Your answer will be evaluated and your Progress Report will be updated (if you are a Task Tracker user).

Your goal is to answer questions, to earn "Stars", and to complete one or more level. Stars are earned when you show success on a particular question. Once you show success on all the questions for a particular activity, you will earn the trophy for that activity.
