Metric Conversions - Directions
Using the Metric Conversions Concept Builder is quite simple. There are three difficulty levels in all. Every question in every difficulty level is the same. You are presented with the challenge of converting from a given quantity in one unit to a different unit. You must do two things - identify the direction and the number of places that the decimal point must be moved AND identify the mulitplying or dividing factor that would be used to conduct the conversion on your calculator.
There are left and right arrow buttons that can be tapped to move the decimal point. Each tap moves the decimal point in the direction of the arrow. The decimal point is shown moving on the graphic. If you move it too far in one direction, you can use the arrow pointing in the opposite direction to move the decimal point that opposite way. Below the graphic (number), there are two buttons. The first button can be used to identify whether you need to multiply or divide by a number to conduct this conversion. Continued tapping toggles back and forth between the two options. The other button can be tapped to select the multiplying or divinding factor. There are eight options to choose from. Continued tapping on the second button will cycle through all options and then repeat the cycling from the beginnning. Onc you have moved the decimal point and identified the multiplying or dividing factor, a Check Answer button appears. When you are satisfied with your answer, tap on the button. Your answers will be evaluated and the Progress Report will be updated.
Your goal is to earn "Stars" and to complete one or more difficulty levels. Stars are earned when you show success on a particular question. Once you show success on all the questions for a particular difficulty level, you will earn the trophy for that level.
