Mission MCC4 Precision-Uncertainty-and-Accuracy

Mission MCC4 pertains to concepts of precision, uncertainty, and accuracy. Students must distinguish between the terms and their meaning and be able to use them to evaluate data sets. The mission consists of 32 questions organized into 8 Question Groups.

Learning Outcomes

  • The student should be able to distinguish between uncertainty, precision, and accuracy and identify the factors that affect the uncertainty in a measurement.
  • The student should be able to inspect a set of experimental data with averaged values and a theoretical target and make judgements regarding the accuracy and precision.
