Physics Classroom is making strides to make our site accessible to everyone. Our site contains 6 navigation areas. The Primary, Secondary, and Page Level navigations have a screen reader version of their nav structure that allows using the left and right keys to navigate sibling navigation items, and up or down keys to navigate parent or child navigation items. The others can be navigated using tabs. The Primary Navigation handles the first 2 levels of site pages. The Secondary (which is not always available) handles the 3rd and 4th level of structure. The Page level navigation allows you to navigate the current page's headings quickly. The Header Navigation contains the Light/Dark Mode toggle, Search, Notifications and account login. The Breadcrumb Navigation contains the breadcrumb of the current page. If the current page has a breadcrumb, you can get to it by skipping to the content and tabbing in reverse (shift plus tab). The Footer Navigation contains links such as Privacy, Contact, about and terms. Some resources contain an Audio Player that can be activated by holding down the T key for 3 seconds, and then using K to pause and resume. While not every area of Physics Classroom is usable purely from keyboard and screen reader, we are committed to continue work on making this possible. If you have questions or need additional help, please use this link to contact us.

Light Bulb Anatomy - Directions

Using the Light Bulb Anatomy Concept Builder is quite simple. There are three different activities, each with a different emphasis. In each activity you will be presented with a question that you will have to answer.

In the first activity - Which Bulb Lights? - you will be presented with three diagrams of a simple circuit consisting of an arrangement of a cell, a wire, and a bulb. By inspecting the arrangements, you will have to identify which of the bulbs will light. You do this by tapping on the diagram of the circuit. Tapping once selects that circuit as an answer; tapping a second time will deselect it. You can tap on as many of the diagrams as you wish in order to select more than one answer. Once one or more circuits have been selected, a Check Answer button appears. Once you are satisfied with your answers, tap on the Check Answer button. Your answer will be evaluated and your Progress Report will be updated.

In the second activity - Pathways - you will be presented with a diagram of an arrangment of two bulbs and two wires. You have to do two things. First, you must inspect the arrangment of bulbs and determine how charge will flow through (or across) the bulbs from one wire to the other wire. The direction of charge flow is not important; you will only have to determine the pathway along which the charge flows. You can tap on the diagram to toggle through the five choices. A new pathway is shown each time you tap. Once you are satisfied with your choice, you can do the second thing: identify which bulbs will light. There are four buttons at the bottom of the Concept Buiilder that you can tap to select your answer. Once you have completed both of these tasks, a Check Answer button appears. Once you are satisfied with your answers, tap on the Check Answer button. Your answer will be evaluated and your Progress Report will be updated.

In the third activity - Wire It Up - you will be presented with an arrangment of three light bulbs and an entry wire. You will have to determine the location where a second wire must be touched in order to light specific bulbs. You can select a location by tapping on one of the four buttons at the bottom of the Concept Builder. You can tap a second time to deselect a location or tap on a second button to change your answer. Once you tap on a button, a wire is shown on the diagram, the button is highlighted to indicate your choice, and a Check Answer button appears. Once you are satisfied with your answer, tap on the Check Answer button. Your answer will be evaluated and your Progress Report will be updated.

Your goal is to earn "Stars" and to complete one or more activities. Stars are earned when you show success on a particular question. Once you show success on all the questions for a particular activity, you will earn the Trophy for that activity.
