Standing Wave Patterns on Strings

The Standing Wave Patterns on Strings Toolkit provides teachers with standards-based resources for designing lesson plans and units that pertain to such topics as the formation of standing wave patterns on strings, the concept of nodes and antinodes, the appearance of the standing wave patterns for various harmonics, and the mathematics of standing wave patterns on strings. Both the conceptual and the mathematical nature of these topics are emphasized. The Toolkit is supported by Lesson 4 of the Waves chapter and Lesson 5b of the Sound Waves and Music chapter at The Physics Classroom Tutorial. This page describes the Toolkit's topic, objectives, types of resources included, etc.

Each toolkit can be viewed in three different ways.
