Mission MAM2 Orbitals

Mission MAM2 pertains to atomic orbitals. Students must understand the types of atomic orbitals - their basic shape, the number per energy level, and their electron capacity. The mission consists of 34 questions organized into 9 Question Groups.

Learning Outcomes

  • The student should be able to identify the different types of orbitals (s, p, d, and f) - their shape, notation (e.g., 2s, 4p), and electron capacity.
  • The student should be able to identify the type of orbitals and the number of orbitals of each type for the various energy levels (or n values).
