Physics Classroom is making strides to make our site accessible to everyone. Our site contains 6 navigation areas. The Primary, Secondary, and Page Level navigations have a screen reader version of their nav structure that allows using the left and right keys to navigate sibling navigation items, and up or down keys to navigate parent or child navigation items. The others can be navigated using tabs. The Primary Navigation handles the first 2 levels of site pages. The Secondary (which is not always available) handles the 3rd and 4th level of structure. The Page level navigation allows you to navigate the current page's headings quickly. The Header Navigation contains the Light/Dark Mode toggle, Search, Notifications and account login. The Breadcrumb Navigation contains the breadcrumb of the current page. If the current page has a breadcrumb, you can get to it by skipping to the content and tabbing in reverse (shift plus tab). The Footer Navigation contains links such as Privacy, Contact, about and terms. Some resources contain an Audio Player that can be activated by holding down the T key for 3 seconds, and then using K to pause and resume. While not every area of Physics Classroom is usable purely from keyboard and screen reader, we are committed to continue work on making this possible. If you have questions or need additional help, please use this link to contact us.

Mass and Weight - Directions

Using the Mass and Weight Concept Builder is quite simple. There are three different activities in the Concept Builder. They each have their own directions. In the first activity - Two Truths and a Lie - you will be provided three statements. Two of them are true and one of them is false. You must identify the false statement. You do so by tapping on the statement to select it. You will know its selected because a box will enclosed the selected statement. If you change your mind, then tap on the statement a second time to deselect it or tap on a different statement to select it instead. As long as a statement is selected, a Check Answer button will be visible.Once you are satisfied with your answer, tap on the Check Answer button. Your answer will be evaluated and your Progress Report will be updated.

In the second activity - Calculate It! - you have to calculate the mass or the weight of an object. You do so by entering the numerical answer into the answer field. As an alternative to using the native device keyboard, you can tap on the number pad icon to pop up our built-in number keypad. Tap on the numbers to enter your answer; then tap on the Enter button or the Tap to Close button. When you are satisfied with your answer, tap on the Check Answer button. Your answer will be evaluated and your Progress Report will be updated.

In the third activity - Out of This World - you must complete a 7-row table that has 11 empty cells. You must provide the numerical value for these empty cells. You can enter numbers one cell at a time and check the answer or you can enter several cells at once. You can enter an answer by tapping on a cell. This will pop up a number pad that can be used to enter the answer. In addition to the number keys of the number pad, there are Backspace (delete most recent digit), Clear (delete entire number), Decimal point, and Enter buttons on the number pad. Once you have entered your answer, tap on the Enter button or the Tap to Close button. Alternatively, you can tap on a different table cell to enter its value. When you are satisfied with your answer(s), tap on the Check Answer button. Your answer(s) will be evaluated and the table will be updated using a color system. Green cells indicate correctly entered numbers. Pink cells indicate incorrect number entries. Grey calls are cells that have not yet been checked. Once the table is complete (all 11 cells having correct entries), you will be rewarded the Trophy for the activity.

Your goal is to earn "Stars" (first two activities) and to complete one or more activities. Stars are earned when you show success on a particular question. Once you show success on all the questions at a particular activity, you will earn the reward for that activity.
