Physics Classroom is making strides to make our site accessible to everyone. Our site contains 6 navigation areas. The Primary, Secondary, and Page Level navigations have a screen reader version of their nav structure that allows using the left and right keys to navigate sibling navigation items, and up or down keys to navigate parent or child navigation items. The others can be navigated using tabs. The Primary Navigation handles the first 2 levels of site pages. The Secondary (which is not always available) handles the 3rd and 4th level of structure. The Page level navigation allows you to navigate the current page's headings quickly. The Header Navigation contains the Light/Dark Mode toggle, Search, Notifications and account login. The Breadcrumb Navigation contains the breadcrumb of the current page. If the current page has a breadcrumb, you can get to it by skipping to the content and tabbing in reverse (shift plus tab). The Footer Navigation contains links such as Privacy, Contact, about and terms. Some resources contain an Audio Player that can be activated by holding down the T key for 3 seconds, and then using K to pause and resume. While not every area of Physics Classroom is usable purely from keyboard and screen reader, we are committed to continue work on making this possible. If you have questions or need additional help, please use this link to contact us.

Solve It! with Newton's Second Law - Directions

Using the Solve It! (with Newton's Second Law) Concept Builder is quite simple. You will be presented with a short story problem associated with an object experiencing an unbalanced force and an acceleration. A diagram will also be provided that shows all the forces acting upon the object. You must use the information in the problem statement to determine the values of all the forces. You must also determine the mass, acceleration, and net force. In some cases, the values for these quantities are directly stated in the problem statement. In other cases, you will have to calculate them.

There is a blank for each quantity. Tapping on the blank opens up a number pad that allows you to enter the value for each quantity. As you tap on the number keys in the number pad, the values will be entered into the blanks. Once you are done with the entry, you can either tap on the Enter Key, tap on the Tap to Close button, or tap on the blank for a different quantity. The quantity that is active is always shown in the space near the top of the number pad so that you always know what quantity you are entering. You can enter values for all the blanks at once and then check your answers or you can check answers for one blank at a time. We advise that you minimize the amount of rounding. A safe habit is to always enter three significant digits. The program will always check to make sure that your entered answer is within 1% of the "correct answer".

Tap on the Check Answer button to check any of the answers. Your answer will be evaluated and the answer fields will be color coded to indicate the correctness of your answers. Green indicates a correct answer. Pink and grey fields indicate either an unchecked answer or an incorrect answer. Another part of the feedback is the Health Rating. The more misses that you have, the lower your Health Rating. Once you complete all problems for a given difficulty level, you will be returned to the Main Menu. Your final Health Rating will be shown there. If you would wish to try the difficulty level over in order to beat your highest Health Rating, then tap on the Try Again button found on the Main Menus screen.
