Mission AB12 Hydrolysis of Salts

Mission AB12 pertains to salts and their hydrolysis. Students must be able to predict whether an aqueous solution of a given salt is acidic, basic, or neutral and identify the rationale for the prediction. The mission consists of 40 questions organized into 10 Question Groups.

Learning Outcomes

  • The student should be able to write the chemical equations for the hydrolysis reactions of the ions of a soluble salt.
  • The student should be able to evaluate simple salt solutions to predict their acidity or basicity level.
