Vectors and Forces in 2-D: Audio Guided Solution
Problem Set F2D11, Question 5:
In the Mu Shoe Physics Lab, Melissa and Macy are attempting to determine the friction coefficients for a hard-sole shoe and a wooden board. They place the shoe on the board and gradually increase the incline angle until it begins to move. Once set in motion, they then decrease the incline angle to the point that it appears to move at a constant speed. For one of their test shoes, the shoe slips into motion at an angle of 26.7° and maintains a constant speed motion at an angle of 22.5°.
a. Determine the coefficient of static friction for the shoe and wooden board.
b. Determine the coefficient of kinetic friction for the shoe and wooden board.
